Just because you don't have a palatial yard doesn't mean you can't get green fingered at all. In its spring collection, IKEA has come through with a selection of gardening tools that are perfect for smaller spaces like balconies or terraces and as you'd expect from the Swedish homeware giant, there are some playful design flourishes, and it's all pleasingly affordable too.

I have a courtyard that's about the size of a postage stamp, and it's been looking rather unloved of late. I'll be picking up a Vitlok hanging flower
pot to loop onto the fence, or maybe a galvanized steel Korkgran planter to sit on the floor and fill with herbs. I'm also going to arm myself with a Doftrips soil scoop and striped potting mat, plus a pair of cheerful red Bytbona pruning shears so I'm all set up to care for my plants properly.
