    that appear on your phone, alerting you to extreme weather or other hazards you might need to be aware of.

    This is generally stuff designed for your own safety, but theyre government-issued, so it depends what the government considers an emergency.

    In any case, these alerts are regional, so the idea is that you only get them when theres an emergency affecting your area, but that can still be a little vague, leaving you unclear how worried or alert you need to be, which is

    (Image credit: Future) Now with added maps Now, with the Google Play Services v26.12 update , Wireless Emergency Alerts will include a map, so you can see the affected area and its proximity to your current location directly from
    the alert.

    That means theres no need to launch other apps or Google the alert for more information you can simply see at a glance exactly which areas are affected, so you know whether you need to take shelter or make any other changes to
    your routine.

    This is both convenient and, in the most drastic cases, potentially life-saving it saves time and reduces the risk of people ignoring alerts, assuming that theyre not relevant.

    You wont necessarily have this update yet as there can be phased rollouts,
    but if you have an Android phone you should hopefully receive it soon so
