What are some of the better cheap guitars under $200??
You get what you pay for...maybe it's not a matter of what's "better" but what works for you. I have a cheap guitar I got for $50 from Craigslist.

I have a $350 strat I picked up at a pawn shop and never play it these days. I have another $50 pawn shop special that I put really light strings on and play that from time to time.
Thanks for the tip but I wanted to go to the store with a few names in mind. Back in the day there were only two electric guitars to chose from. Gibson and/or Fender.

Some people say tone is mostly in the fingers, and might have you believe it doesn't really matter what you pay for a guitar.. Perhaps to an extent that's true - A $1600 Strat might not necessarily be any better for you than a $450 Strat. Part of it is what feels good for you to play, but I think it's good to buy a guitar that is put together well with good craftsmanship.
