Well, interesting, because the stock-ish version of the Fairphone 4 is what I currently have.

So, whenever I next get a new phone (probably not for a while), I'll probably turn it into a Linux phone.

Android.

I'm not sure what a newly-purchased phone would have, but I haven't messed with the OS beyond taking whatever upgrades Fairphone has sent, and it says I'm running Android version 15.

Also, it is pretty stock, for Android, as there's not the layer of crappy applications that come with Samsung phones.

I must agree with your statements.

It is frustrating, I agree. I wish somebody would come up with a spin off of the Internet.

I think there might be at least a partial solution right in front of us. That'd be to limit, or stop, our use of sites like social media that offer more chances for surveillance by default, and revert back to some of the simpler uses of Internet tech that originally drew us to it.
