From Dumas Walker@DIGDIST/CAPCITY2 to ALL on Monday, April 08, 2019 17:30:00
Today, April 8, is the 60th anniversary of the beginning of the conference
that eventually came up with the original version of the business-oriented computer language that we all know and love -- COBOL!

    Happy Birthday, COBOL!

Cool, I didn't realize that. :) I also remember hearing that Grace Hopper had some involvement with COBOL? Looking on Wikipedia, it says she popularized the idea of machine-independent programming languages, which led to COBOL.

She sure did! She is considered by many to be the mother of the language.
